Detailed description

Crystal effect polyester resin, ideal for creating small objects such as jewelry or small objects with inclusions.

Key Features:

  • Suitable for creating small cast pieces with object inclusions like jewelry.
  • Does not yellow even when exposed to light.
  • Typically used without the addition of fillers.
  • Allows casting with masses up to 200-300 grams and thickness up to 1 centimeter.
  • Limited heat development during catalysis.
  • Catalysis time of approximately 30 minutes at 25°C.
  • Recommended catalyst dosage: 1-2%.
  • The recommended catalyst quantity decreases as the casting mass increases.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Weigh a quantity of resin equal to 1/3 of the volume of the chosen mold for encapsulation in a polyethylene or metallic container.
  2. Avoid preparing masses exceeding 300 grams to prevent excessive heat development during the reaction.
  3. Add 2% MEKP catalyst (20 drops = 1 gram), which is 40 drops per 100 grams of resin.
  4. Thoroughly mix with a spatula or wooden stick.
  5. Pour the mixture into the mold to create a base layer.
  6. Wait for the resin to begin gelling and place the object to be encapsulated in the center. If using flowers or insects, it is advisable to brush them with the same mixture prepared for the base layer to prevent trapped air bubbles.
  7. Prepare another mixture of resin and catalyst in the necessary quantity to completely fill the mold and pour it to the brim.
  8. Wait a few minutes for air bubbles to escape and place a Mylar or nylon film on the surface of the resin. This will result in a glossy and non-sticky surface.
  9. Wait for 2-3 hours for hardening before removing the mold. Remove the Mylar sheet and smooth any imperfections with fine-grit sandpaper. If the surface is slightly sticky, clean it with acetone. To remove opacity in sanded or acetone-cleaned areas, polish with abrasive paste.

Please Note:

  • Polyester resins emit a strong and penetrating styrene odor during the processing.
  • The resulting pieces will continue to emit odor for a few days until the styrene reaction is complete.
  • Therefore, it is important to work in suitable and well-ventilated environments.
  • Avoid preparing mixtures exceeding 300 grams to prevent excessive heat development.
