Silpfast is a mixture based on polymers that allows the cold casting of hollow subjects, with a thin surface made ​​with special plaster. The film is formed with a thickness dependent on the time of maintenance of the mold, which can vary from 4 to 20 minutes. The final extraction can be done in 12-24 hours after pouring. The final product has considerable hardness, strength, durability and resistance to water, but it is not dishwasher safe. The low water content and the special formula allow an increase of castings in the molds compared with conventional slurries, and a very low shrinkage. The viscosity of the product results in an easy casting and a satin surface of the subject and can be corrected by the addition of water. The finish of the subjects can be done easily with ceramic or wood tools within 4-5 hours after extraction, basting lightly with water, even beyond that term. The decoration can be made with acrylic or oil colors.
