Intensive artistic micromosaic course designed to provide a complete and structured method, from material preparation to the creation of finished jewelry. Under the guidance of Rebecca Di Filippo (https://rebeccadenamel.com/biography), who has taught this technique to more than 400 students from over 20 countries, you will work through every stage of the technique, developing control and precision in the process.
During the course, you will learn how to melt enamel, a Venetian glass paste, and transform it into colorful rods of different shapes and sizes, from which tiny tesserae for micromosaic compositions are created. Torch work will be supervised directly by the instructor through one-to-one guidance, allowing you to develop independence in handling the material.
The program covers the complete preparation of Roman cement, the production of rods (round, rectangular, curved, and mixed-pattern rods), cutting techniques for creating tesserae, and setting methods to achieve compact, gap-free, and perfectly uniform surfaces. A practical demonstration of polishing techniques for micromosaic finishing is also included.
The goal is to provide practical and repeatable skills for creating high-quality micromosaic jewelry, working independently from raw material to finished piece.
Although the course takes place in a group setting, the experience is structured to adapt to each participant’s needs. Throughout the activities, the instructor provides personalized guidance based on the participant’s starting level, individual goals, and available equipment, allowing each student to work effectively within their own context.
The course is conducted in Italian and English.
